PROGRAM PREFERENCES

Summer Availability
HCC offers undergraduate and recent college graduates a comprehensive paid summer internship program that provides exposure, experience, mentoring, and networking in the health field. Please note: While HCC provides these experiences through a wide range of health-related settings and sectors, we do not offer pre-med clinical internships.

In order to ensure that all interns receive the full range of HCC's benefits, we require all selected interns to be able to complete a full-time internship that meets all of the following criteria:
  • 8 hours per day
  • 40 hours a week
  • Traditional business hours (e.g. 9am to 5pm)
  • 10 consecutive weeks from your start date (i.e. no vacations or breaks during your internship)

Beginning in 2020, HCC launched the Community Health Leaders Program (CHLP) as an alternative to the full-time, internship program. This part-time (20 hours/week), completely virtual, 8-week program includes a robust series of interactive online learning sessions, virtual workshops, and training to help participants develop new skills and increase their knowledge of key issues and strategies to advance health equity. CHLP covers topics such as defining health equity, engaging community and policy stakeholders, patient-centered care, cultural humility, philanthropy, and research. Community Health Leaders learn to recognize geographic, cultural, and social contexts where health inequities occur. Throughout the program, Scholars apply their learning through team-based consulting projects in partnership with health organizations seeking to advance health equity.

Participation entails 20 hours per week, 9a-1pm PT/12pm-4pm ET Monday - Friday of virtual programming and team-based project work, as well as a $2,000 educational stipend.

Please note that because internships are full time, you cannot participate in the Community Health Leaders Program and the HCC Internship Program simultaneously. Expressing the desire to be considered for the Community Health Leaders Program will not affect your candidacy for the HCC Internship Program.
