We match professionals across a wide range of industries—from education and business to finance and medicine—who all share one goal: to influence the next generation of Black leaders. College & Career Mentor-Sponsor Expectations

LINK Scholars in their senior year of high school will be paired with College & Career Mentor-Sponsors who share similar college majors and/or career interests and serve as guides, advocates, and invested Sponsors, directly funding the support needed to navigate the college admissions journey with clarity and confidence.

What it Means to Be a College & Career Mentor-Sponsor
Each College & Career Mentor-Sponsor plays a dual role:
1. Mentor: Be matched with a Scholar who is a senior in high school based on college and/or career interest alignment.
  • Support college and career exploration.
  • Join at least 2-3 of the Scholar's eight (8) one-on-one college counseling sessions.
  • Help brainstorm, review, and revise personal statement and essays.
  • Complete structured follow-up tasks aligned to counseling sessions.
  • Participate in celebratory, networking, and milestone events with their Scholar & family.
  • Receive guidance and ongoing support from LINK staff throughout the mentoring experience.
  • Partner with Parents/Guardians, who will also be engaged in this process, with clear expectations and suggestions for participation.
2. Sponsor: Invest in your Scholars' journey by financially supporting their college counseling, access programming, enrichment opportunities, and wrap-around services needed to navigate the college exploration and application process with confidence.
  • Partial Sponsorship: $2,500
  • Full Sponsorship: $5,000

MENTOR/SCHOLAR MATCHING INFORMATION

Tell us more about you! These answers will be shared with your future Mentee!

What was the impact of the relationship? Are you still in touch with your former mentee? Etc.

As an organization that mentors young people, we must, above all, ensure their safety. To protect the scholars enrolled in the LINK program, all mentors must complete a background check. You will receive information directly from Sterling Volunteers within two weeks from application acceptance.

Say cheese! Your mentee will see your photo once you are matched! On occasion, your photo might be shared with the LINK Community. Let's see some personality! Feel free to upload your headshot, your favorite selfie or a picture with your pet!

This can be the same picture uploaded above if you are both in it!
