Rise Up Together Leader Selection Criteria - Kenya 2026

Thank you for your interest in applying to become a Rise Up Leader in Kenya!

Eligible candidates must meet the following selection criteria:
  • Civil Society leaders who are at least 18 years of age at the time of the training in November 2026.

  • Currently works in Kajiado, Narok, Machakos, Makueni, Kiambu, and/or Nairobi Counties.
  • Has a personal interest and current commitment to promoting gender equity broadly in the four priority areas of health, education, economic opportunity, and climate solutions for women, girls, and gender-nonconforming people. While leaders working across all four issue areas are encouraged to apply, this cohort will place particular emphasis on education-focused advocacy and leadership, reflecting a strategic priority within the program.

  • Represents or works closely with marginalized groups from socially or economically marginalized communities, women and girls with disabilities, ethnic and/or religious minorities, and/or other historically disadvantaged populations.
  • Ability to participate in an in-person training from November 2-7, 2026, with some virtual sessions pre- and post-workshop. Please note that Rise Up Together will cover all costs related to program participation, including transportation, lodging, food, and materials.
  • Currently works at a non-profit organization, civil society organization, media organization, or government organization at a level of coordination or management and has some level of decision-making power.
  • Has the support of their organization’s leadership to participate in Rise Up Together’s Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator training.
  • To be eligible for a grant, Rise Up Together requires organizations to be legally registered in-country and set up to receive international funds. Entities that are not registered can be sponsored by another financial entity or fiscal sponsor. Note: Government organizations are not eligible to receive grants through this program.
  • Proficient in oral and written English.

  • Debe ser una persona líder de la sociedad civil mayor de 18 años.       
  • Actualmente trabaja en los estados de Monterrey, San Luis Potosí o Chihuahua.
  • Tiene un interés personal y un compromiso actual con la promoción de la equidad de género en las tres áreas prioritarias de salud, educación y oportunidades económicas para mujeres, niñas y personas de género no binario.
  • Representa o trabaja en estrecha colaboración con grupos prioritarios de comunidades social o económicamente marginadas, mujeres y niñas con discapacidades, minorías étnicas y/o religiosas y otras poblaciones históricamente desfavorecidas.
  • Posibilidad de participar en una capacitación presencial del 23 al 28 de marzo de 2026, con sesiones virtuales previas y posteriores al taller. Tenga en cuenta que Rise Up Together cubrirá todos los costos relacionados con la participación en el programa, incluyendo transporte, alojamiento, comida y materiales.
  • Actualmente trabaja en una organización sin fines de lucro, una organización de la sociedad civil o una organización gubernamental en un nivel de coordinación o gestión y tiene algún nivel de poder de toma de decisiones.

Thank you for your interest in applying to become a Rise Up Leader in Maharashtra, India! 


Each Rise Up Together cohort includes 25 participants. Leaders are selected through a competitive application review and interview process. We seek diverse leaders representing different backgrounds, sectors, geographies, experiences, and perspectives.

Eligible candidates must meet the following selection criteria: 

  • Be at least 18 years of age at time of training.
  • Currently work in Maharashtra (any region).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to advancing gender equity in one or more of the following areas: climate, health, education, and economic opportunity for women, girls, and gender-diverse people. 
  • Work with or represent socially and economically marginalized communities, including women and girls, persons with disabilities, ethnic or religious minorities, and other historically disadvantaged groups.

  • Be available to participate in a six-day in-person training, along with four virtual sessions before and after the workshop during November and December 2026. The in-person residential workshop is from 14-19 December (arrival and departure days are additional.) Rise Up Together will cover eligible program-related costs, including travel, accommodation, meals, and training materials.

  • Be a founder, co-founder, staff member or a volunteer of a nonprofit organization, civil society organization, academic or research institution in a coordination, management, or other decision-making role. 
  • Have the support of your organization’s leadership to participate in Rise Up’s Leadership Accelerator. 
  • To be eligible for a grant, your organization must be legally registered in India and eligible to receive funds (e.g. Society/Trust registration, 12A, 80G, and CSR-1, as applicable). Organizations that are not registered may apply through a registered fiscal sponsor. Government organizations are not eligible to receive grants through this program.
  • Have a working proficiency in spoken and written English and Hindi (preferred).

  • Kaduna State, or Nasarawa State.
  • Has a personal interest and current commitment to promoting gender equity broadly in the three priority areas of health, education, and economic opportunity for women, girls, and gender-nonconforming people.
  • Represents or works closely with marginalized groups from socially or economically marginalized communities, women and girls with disabilities, ethnic and/or religious minorities and other historically disadvantaged populations.
  • Ability to participate in an in-person training from November 16-22, 2025, with some virtual sessions pre- and post-workshop. Please note that Rise Up will cover all costs related to program participation, including transportation, lodging, food, materials, and internet costs.
  • Currently works at a non-profit organization, civil society organization, media organization, or government organization at a level of coordination or management and has some level of decision-making power.
  • Has the support of your organization’s leadership to participate in Rise Up Together’s Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator training.
  • To be eligible for a grant, Rise Up Together requires organizations to be legally registered in country and set up to receive international funds.
