Male Application - Page 1 of 3

Thank you for applying for the 2026 18 Inch Journey - Phase One.  We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Before you continue, please be sure to read the Phase One webpage to gain a clearer understanding of what you are applying for.

We encourage you to give yourself time to really consider these questions with the Lord.  Our prayer is that the questions would lead you to powerful honesty and reflection.  Your story is worth being heard and you are worth the effort it takes to find the words to share it within this application.

Please be sure to watch the video (located above) to hear more about our vision for this process before you begin.

Your application needs the following to be considered complete:

- The written portion of the application

- The video portion of the application

- One reference

- The application submission fee

If you'd like to pause on your application and come back to it, please select the option to "save and resume" at the top of this page.  This will give you access to continue your application if you close your web browser.  You can access your application through the link sent to your email.

Please note:

Men's applications will open on August 27th and will close on November 2nd. Our team will process applications in the order received. We will be building both our Roster and our Waitlist from the applications received within the application window. In the event that we fill our Roster and Waitlist before November 2nd, we will close the application window earlier. Once the window has closed, you will not be able to submit an application, regardless of where it's at in the process. If you are interested in applying for our school, we encourage you to complete all of these steps sooner rather than later.

Thank you again for taking the time to apply to the 18 Inch Journey. We have the delight of hearing from the hearts and stories of young men and women from all over the world, and we are honored to hear yours.

—18 Inch Journey Staff

Reference

Your application requires one reference in order to be complete and ready for processing.

Please choose someone who knows you well and can offer perspective on the areas of your life where you need help. Unlike a job reference, we are not looking for “glowing recommendations”. An essential part of growth and wholeness is receiving the perspective of others who can honestly reflect on our strengths as well as our weaknesses and areas of need that we cannot always see for ourselves. When considering who you will ask to be your reference, we encourage you to choose someone who you trust to offer this type of well-rounded reflection. It will be helpful to choose someone you interact with regularly and who you frequently practice honesty and vulnerability with. For example, if you only have interactions with your pastor at church but he/she does not know much about your story or current process, they may not be the best choice for the kind of reference we are looking for. Please note, we do not accept references from parents or significant others.

The link to the reference form is located here.  Please send your reference this form.  This link can also be found on the 18 Inch Journey Phase One Men's Application page.  Your application will not be completed until we receive your reference form.

Community Living
We believe that relationships and community play a vital role in working out our salvation. We are looking for students who are committed to growthboth with God and with people.  We also believe true relationships require a willingness to practice healthy conflict and vulnerability.  We'd like to hear more about your perspective of community and experience with conflict.

Discipleship
